Moto E7 Plus: Design:-

Motorola phones usually have a very clean, non-complicated yet elegant design. Something that you would like to pick up for yourself, or say your mother. The E7 Plus doesn’t deviate from the philosophy. The design is very similar to the Moto G9 Plus but unlike the G9, it doesn’t have a glossy rear panel. The rear of E7 Plus has a matte finish which in my opinion makes the device look nice. This review features the misty blue colour which I really like. It is not flashy, neither it has any textures that give some sort of a kaleidoscopic effect, something that I have seen and not liked in some phones in the affordable segment.

The Moto E7 Plus has flattened curves which makes the device less slippery and provides a strong grip, meaning you can easily use it without a cover if that is something you don’t like doing. The phone is quite sturdy and well-built, it looks like it can withstand a few falls without cracking open but do not try that at home.

The Moto E7 Plus despite featuring a biggish 6.5-inch screen is quite handy. The slightly thick bezels cannot be ignored but that is something that should not bother a buyer considering the price the phone comes for. It has a volume rocker, a power button and a dedicated Google Assistant button, all of them placed at a well-thought-of distance on the right side. One hand operations feel like a breeze in the Moto E7 Plus as each button is easily distinguishable. For instance, the Google Assistant button has a rough texture while the other two buttons have the body texture. So even when you are not looking at it, you know what you are pressing.

On the rear panel, there is a square-shaped camera island which hosts two camera sensors and an LED light. Surrounding the camera module is a glossy aluminium frame that adds zing to the design. Right below it, there is a classic fingerprint scanner with Motorola’s logo emblazoned on it. The fingerprint scanner also features an aluminium frame.

Moto E7 Plus: Performance:-

We cannot really begin talking about the performance of the E7 Plus without mentioning the Snapdragon Qualcomm 460 SoC that runs the show here. The E7 Plus is one of the few sub-10,000 smartphones to be powered by a Snapdragon Qualcomm processor that is paired with 4GB of RAM. Usually, we see phones with MediaTek processors in this range. So not bad? Not bad at all.

One of the most joyful things about using a Motorola phone is the absence of bloatware. You are not constantly nudged by the notifications from useless apps that come pre-installed in most Android devices nowadays. Motorola does none of that. The E7 Plus has a few important apps by Google and Facebook but that is all. This is exactly why the Android stock experience is something that is always appealing. The home feed looks clean and clutter-free and you can download apps as per your wish.

The phone handles basic tasks quite seamlessly. I could not find any lags even after a rigorous usage but having said that, I had only performed basic tasks like watching a video on YouTube, using WhatsApp, or just scrolling through my Facebook feed. I also made a few calls and that too happened pretty smoothly. I could also switch between one app to the other easily without getting stuck and the 4GB should be credited for that. I tried playing the Asphalt 9 on the Moto E7 Plus but the device heated up after a while. However, in casual games like candy crush and temple run, it worked just fine.

The E7 has a decent display, if not the best in the segment, which lets you watch movies and web series. The viewing angles are also good, which does not spoil the game for you when you are outdoors.

Now coming to the battery and also an area of my concern. The smartphone houses a 5000mAh battery which can go on for a day but if you use the phone a lot like you are always on it in this app or that, the phone’s battery will drain before the day ends. In other words, given the size of the battery 5000 mAh I expected more.

At the same time, the phone takes a while to get fully charged. In other words, this means a good two hours. At a time when fast charging is common, Motorola has put regular charging circuits in the E7 Plus, using USB 2.0. The charging happens at its own languid pace which can really put you off if you are in a hurry. So yes, Type-C, you are deeply missed here!

Moto E7 Plus: Camera:-

Before the E7 Plus was unveiled, Motorola emphasised upon its camera a lot. The E7 Plus comes with a 48-primary shooter and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. One area where the E7 Plus clearly stands out from the crowd is its camera. I will explain how.

The 48-megapixel camera captures extremely crisp and clear pictures in day-light conditions. More surprisingly it’s the rather tiny 2-megapixel camera the second camera in the phone -- takes decent portrait photos as long as you click a human or a dog and not an object. The results that it produces are more than satisfying.

In Overall, I find the camera performance of the E7 Plus impressive. low light conditions, the pictures are rather average and grainy, which is expected from a phone in this class. For pictures in low light, Motorola uses a special Night Vision technology that brightens the photos taken during evening or night. The pictures that are captured are not only bright but also quite sharp compared to what other 48-megapixel shooters in phones in this range can manage in the night or late evenings.Overall, I find the camera performance of the E7 Plus impressive.

The selfies taken during the well-lit conditions are above average but the details are missing. The low-light selfies are too mushy. There is also a portrait mode on the front, that blurs the background of your selfies and quite effectively so in the good light.
